We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Artworker to join our team. As an Artworker, you will be responsible for the design and layout of various printed materials, such as books, magazines, and other publications. Your role will involve working closely with authors and editors to ensure the accuracy of the text and the aesthetic presentation of the content.

Responsibilities
- Design and layout text and illustrations for various printed materials, ensuring clarity, legibility, and aesthetic appeal
- Collaborate with authors and editors to understand the content and style requirements
- Choose appropriate typefaces, point size, line length, leading, and other elements of typographic design
- Proofread text to ensure it meets publication style guidelines and is free of errors
- Operate typesetting machinery and adjust for font, paper size, and weight
- Utilise computer software for typesetting and graphic design
- Stay up-to-date on industry developments and new printing methods
Requirements and skills
- Technical skills in operating typesetting machinery, which may be gained through work experience or apprenticeship
- Familiarity with graphic design and computer design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong visual aesthetic and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Good editing skills and the ability to catch spelling or punctuation mistakes
- Knowledge of typography, design principles, and digital design
